Book your Theory Test
Your theory test is a major milestone, and getting the basics right makes the whole process much smoother.
What the theory test includes
For car learners, the theory test has two parts: multiple-choice questions and hazard perception. You need to pass both parts in the same sitting.
Before you book
- You need your provisional driving licence.
- You should be ready to choose a test centre, date, and time.
- It helps to be revising the Highway Code, road signs, and hazard perception before booking.
DTC advice for preparing well
- Do not rely on memorising answers alone. Learn the reasons behind the rules.
- Practise hazard perception clips regularly, not just once or twice.
- Ask your instructor about any road signs or scenarios that keep catching you out.
- Book the practical test only when your theory pass and driving progress both support it.
